About me
Hi, I’m Jana Machackova-Oey, a Czech-born photographer living and working in Finland.
Photography for me is a space where I meet myself. Whether I walk in the street or spend time in nature, I listen to the moment and let it unfold.
It is a quiet encounter with life—what my eyes see, my body feels, and what my intuition is drawn to. I observe, and let the environment speak.
My approach is intuitive, sensitive, and open. This is also how I approach people when I photograph them —creating a space where there is time to see, feel, and simply be present.
An important part of my photography is respect for what I photograph. I approach people, places, and moments with care and delicacy, allowing things to be as they are.
My path has been shaped by studies in photography and art in China and Finland, as well as by my ongoing interest in empowering photography, where I continue to explore how photography process can support connection, presence, and self-understanding.
Alongside my artistic work, I create one-to-one photography sessions and collaborate on selected projects that value presence, honesty, and a human approach.
My experience includes portrait photography, documentary and event photography, film stills, and commissioned creative work.
While my work continues to evolve, I remain open to meaningful collaborations with individuals, cultural organizations, and projects that resonate.
